Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA)
5 DAY-OR-LESS QUARANTINE AVAILABLE .   Over the years, the Hawaii Department of Agriculture has been studying ways to ease the burdens of quarantine on pets and their owners and submitted the 5-day-or-less quarantine option to the Hawaii Board of Agriculture, which approved the proposal. The study conducted  by the State Veterinarian indicated that a 5-day-or-less quarantine program would not significantly increase the risk of rabies introduction into the islands.

FYI................
There is a big difference between "checked baggage" and "shipped as cargo"........  "Checked baggage" means the animal flies with you as baggage/luggage on the same aircraft.  They are "checked in" with you at the counter just like baggage/luggage. "Shipped as cargo" is when the animal flies alone and there is no guarantee they are on the same plane as you.  And you have to "check them in" at the cargo counter which is usually in a separate part of the airport.
